LVSA Humanitarian Award

Las Vegas, NEVADA, November 01, 2007 - The Las Vegas Spa Association (LVSA) held their year end Spa Director’s Social at the brand new Qua Baths and Spa at Caesars Palace.

This year the Association presented the first annual Bill Ochoa Humanitarian Award in honor of the late Spa and Salon owner. The award was named for Ochoa to honor his commitment to his profession and humanity. Michael Garvey LVSA President stated, “Bill’s dream was to open in Las Vegas, more importantly he opened his heart to everyone. The LVSA is proud to present this award.”
Rebecca Hellman was the first recipient of the award for her work with the LVSA, Nevada Cancer Institute and the Leukemia Society of America.

The Las Vegas Spa Association (LVSA) was started as a networking solution for Las Vegas Spa Directors and vendors. The propose was to inspire and encourage Spa Directors to share ideas, services and industry trends in a fun, social setting with the goal of providing the best possible spa experience for Las Vegas guests. LVSA Teams With UNLV

UNLVLas Vegas, NV, January 15, 2007 - The Las Vegas Spa Association (LVSA) has teamed with the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) to start a Spa Management class at the University.

The new class titled “Spa Operations and Management” is being offered to students who may be considering a career in spa management. It is hoped the class will be a springboard to an entire spa program within the school’s renowned Harrah Hotel College.

“The proliferation of spas is a direct result of consumer demand and the beneficial bottom line for business’ interests”, stated LVSA Board Chair Jennifer Lynn. “Helping UNLV not only serves the needs of our local spas, but also our industry and our community. We are committed long term”, related Lynn.

LVSA Sponsors Luncheon

Las Vegas, NV, September 25, 2006 - The Las Vegas Spa Association recently sponsored a luncheon at the Nevada Cancer Institute (NVCI). The LVSA Board has committed to supporting the NVCI with a donation for the upcoming fundraising benefit "Bond for the Cure" on November 16th.

The NVCI is a comprehensive cancer research institute, staffed by the finest scientists, clinicians, educators and caregivers. Michael Garvey, President of LVSA stated, “The NVCI is committed to helping the community, state and cancer patients everywhere. The LVSA hopes to be part of that commitment.”

LVSA Donates to NV State Board

Las Vegas, NV, May 15, 2006 - The Las Spa Association donated $500 to spearhead a drive to raise founds for the newly formed Nevada State Board of Massage Therapy.
The Board is raising funds to provide for the health, welfare, and safety of the residents of this state.  The creation of this Board and the funds raised will benefit both organizations in the execution of their visions.

LVSA supports City of Hope
The Las Vegas Spa Association contributed several items to the City of Hope Medical Center’s Silent Auction. Special thanks to LVSA members Ritz Carlton Lake Las Vegas, Spa Bellagio, Gary Levulett Sales, Mindy Terry and The Dumbell Man Fitness Equipment. The event helped raise $30,000 for research at City of Hope. For more information please contact: mgarvey@lvspas.com

TDM donates to the City of Las Vegas
The Dumbell Man Fitness Equipment recently donated an exercise equipment circuit to the City of Las Vegas Dula Gym Senior's Fitness Room. The LVSA will continue to work with TDM and the City of Las Vegas with a spa trade-in program for old exercise equipment. Interested members should contact Scott Lenz at: slenz@dumbellman.com.
