2024 Climb For Hope

Las Vegas, NV. March 24, 2024 – The 12th annual “Climb for Hope” helped raise funds and awareness of the fight against cancer. Members of “Team LVSA” were led by Ms. Michelle Wilkos, Spa Director at the Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas. The hikers gathered at Red Rock Resort before the climb at Calico Basin in Red Rock Canyon.

The Climb again featured a team of spa members, vendor members, friends, and family. The LVSA collected over $3000 in donations to the City of Hope National Medical Center. Former City of Hope patient and LVSA President, Michael Garvey stated, “It’s a great day and we’re very happy with the generous donations and support.”

The post-hike party was highlighted by a raffle drawing with free products provided by select LVSA vendors, a stuffed elephant, and balloons for Ray, the assistant hike leader.

2023 LVSA Awards

Las Vegas, NV, December 14, 2023 – The Las Vegas Spa Association (LVSA) held the 2023 Awards Night at the Mandalay Bay Resort again this year. Ms. Toni Dean from the Virgin Hotel Las Vegas was named Spa Director of the Year for her leadership, dedication, and many years of supporting the LVSA.

 

The Team from The Mirage led by Ms. Christell Vicens, was presented with the Bill Ochoa Humanitarian Award for their outstanding support of Cancer Climb for City of Hope and the “Goat Wine Yoga” exercise class benefiting NextStep Fitness.

 

Ms. Jessica Wadley, VP of Business Development-Integrative Health & Wellness Division at Oakworks, won the vendor Award for Outstanding Member. Jessica was recognized for her support and promotion of the LVSA within Las Vegas and the national spa community.

 

Ms. Ashley Hashimoto from Encore Las Vegas was named the winner of the Spa Dedication Award for her work ethic, dedication, and support of the spa staff and resort guests.

 

The LVSA was started in 2002 as a networking solution for Las Vegas Spa directors, buyers, and vendors. LVSA celebrated the 20th anniversary with B2B socials, vendor luncheons and charity fund raisers. LVSA Board Chair Jennifer Lynn is available for media requests and spa tour arrangements.

Goat Wine Yoga 2023 Supports NextStep Fitness

Las Vegas, NV. October 1, 2023 – The Las Vegas Spa Association (LVSA) hosted the 9th annual charity event for Next Step Fitness. The “Team LVSA” yoga class was led by local Yoga phenom Francis DeAsis. The goats dominated most of the attention.

The South Point Hotel & Casino hosted once again to raise funds for NextStep Fitness which assists people living with paralysis and other physical disabilities. NextStep collaborates locally with the Las Vegas non-profit Driven NeuroRecovey Center.

LVSA President, Michael Garvey stated, “Another great day for NextStep and Team LVSA supporting those in need and the community of Las Vegas.”

NV LAW: Interstate Massage Compact

NV law for Interstate Massage Compact

Las Vegas, NV. June 14, 2023 – On June 12, 2023, Governor Lombardo signed SB161 into law, making Nevada the first state to enact the Interstate Massage Compact. Nevada is the first state in the nation to adopt the Interstate Massage Compact (IMpact).

IMpact allows massage therapists who maintain an active, unencumbered license in the compact member state where they reside to apply for a multistate license.

LVSA Board Member Dierdre Struck, Senior Vice President Wellness Clubs and Spa Operations at Canyon Ranch assisted the Interstate Massage Compact Project Team. LVSA Director of Community Outreach, Kate Wind stated, “We are all extremely proud of Dierdre, her support for the Project Team and our spa community.”
